Simon Wegrzyn is an award-winning Writer/Director of Film and Television. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, Simon is passionate about making films for positive change.

Simon’s latest short film ‘Hold Hands or Hide’ has competed internationally at BAFTA and IMDB qualifying film festivals. It has won Best Writer and Honourable Mention: Love Is Love at the Queen Palm International Film Festival, Best LGBTQ Short at the Global Film Festival, Best LGBT Film at the Bristol Independent Film Festival, Best LGBT Short at the Independent Shorts Awards, and Best LGBT Short at the Global Shorts Awards. Official Selections include Chéries-Chéris, London Lift-Off and OutFest. In 2019, the film will be available on Amazon Prime UK & US as well as Canada's Fearless streaming channel.

‘Filcher and Crook’ was created for Channel 4 Comedy Blaps in 2017 with Might Fine Productions. It starred Tim Downie (BBC 'Upstart Crow', Channel 4 'Toast of London') and Emily Joyce (BBC 'My Hero', Channel 4 'Friday Night Dinner’). As a redhead himself, Simon wanted to put a ginger-twist on the famous '101 Dalmatians' story to highlight that victimising people with ginger hair shouldn't be a socially accepted form of bullying.

In 2019, Simon will be directing a short film called 'Are You Lonesome Tonight' written by Rosie Raven and produced by Isabella Javor.  Simon is in pre-production for his second short film as Writer/Director called 'One Train At A Time'. He is also working on a new comedy series starring drag queens Fantasy and Veronica Green called ‘Fabulous’.

Simon is a member of the BFI Network x BAFTA Crew for 2019/2020 as a Writer/Director.
